Grassi Pietre

Grassi Pietre started working in Nanto near Vicenza in 1850’s. Ever since, this surname is also synonymous with “Vicenza stone”, extracted from Colli Berici family owned quarries in northern Italy.  The company gradually became a main stone supplier for most important buildings in Vicenza, Padua and Verona. Vicenza stone became widely used worldwide, mainly because of its historical architectural references, since it has been used by Andrea Palladio for his Venetian Villas, a worldwide acknowledged symbol of Italian architecture.
Today, GRASSI PIETRE faces the new global market challenges with care and passion, combining its artisanal know-how together with the most modern technologies available for the stone processing and production. The limestone of the Colli Berici has nearly 55 million year old origin. It is also called soft stone, due to its easy workability. Thanks to its refined aesthetic qualities and its warm, neutral colours, Vicenza stone is suitable for any interiors and exteriors project. Available in different colour gradations, the various Vicenza stone types – Bianco Avorio, Giallo Dorato, Pietra del Mare,Grigio Argento and Grigio Alpi – can be also produced in honed, brushed, striated, bush-hammered, sandblasted finish.
